Was steckt hinter dem Trend “Stand-Up Paddling (SUP)” ? – Einführende Gedanken zum SUP-Boom, welcher sich langsam in Europa ausbreitet (Quelle: http://www.public-engagement.de/2011/10/stand-up-paddling/ ):
Die Vorteile dieser Sportart liegen auf der Hand: Stand Up Paddling ist nicht nur Pausenfüller für Wellenreiter und Windsurfer, wenn am Spot gerade keine optimalen Bedingungen herrschen. Besonders Großstadtsurfer, die keine direkte Anbindung zu Wellen, Wind und Wasser haben, kommen auf Seen oder Flüssen auf ihre Kosten. SUP ist darüber hinaus ein hervorragendes Workout, das den ganzen Körper trainiert. Es bietet ein ganzheitliches und gelenkschonendes Ausdauertraining, das Oberkörpermuskulatur, Bauch und Rücken gleichermaßen stärkt. Es gibt wenige Sportarten, die mentale Balance und physische Fitness so spielerisch und entspannt vereinen. Die obligatorische Prise authentischen Surf Lifestyle gibt es obendrein gratis dazu.
Vereinfacht gesagt entwickelt sich die Sportart in vier Richtungen – Wellensurfen, Flachwasser, Langstrecke und Racing – wobei die eine die andere nicht ausschließen muss, denn es gibt Allroundboards, die nahezu das komplette Einsatzspektrum zufriedenstellend abdecken. Natürlich hat Stand Up Paddling auf Flüssen oder Seen nichts mit der ursprünglichen Art des Surfens zu tun, aber man muss als Surfer sein Leben nicht mehr nur nach Wind und Wetter aurichten. Zudem führen einige Hersteller Boards im Portfolio, die auch die Option zum Windsurfen bei Leichtwind bieten. Das alte Gefühl, immer und überall mit seinem Surfbrett aufs Wasser gehen zu können, feiert mit SUP quasi sein Revival.
Key Message: Raus aus der Nische, rein ins richtige Leben: Es gilt, die Einfachheit und die Faszination dieser jungen Sportart auch außerhalb des Windsurfkosmos spür- und erlebbar zu machen.

Sharks cannot reproduce fast enough to keep up with mass-production shark finning.
In the Atlantic ocean alone, shark populations in many species have decreased more than 90% percent in the last 15 years alone. It’s fucking disgusting.If there is two things to remember about sharks, here they are:
a. Most sharks do not attack humans and have no interest in us whatsoever.
b. If you destroy apex predators (predators at the top of the food chain),
the rest of the food chain topples soon thereafter.If the oceans go to hell, so do we.
To stick it to the bad guys and help the good guys, here is a five-minute option:
